# What shock does Santa Cruz Bicycles recommend for my bike?
## Our stock shocks are custom-tuned for each specific model, ensuring optimal performance and ride quality to the model's characteristics. However, if you wish to replace the stock shock for any reason, here are the specifications required to maintain the same level of performance and safety.
**Shock Sizing:**
A shock is measured in two dimensions: eye-to-eye and stroke. Eye-to-eye is the distance between mounting points, and stroke is the amount the shock can compress.
*Example: 210x55mm means 210 is eye-to-eye, and 55 is the stroke. Current shocks use metric sizing*
General Recommendations:
- Do not change eye-to-eye or stroke unless specified.
- Do not alter or modify links
- Compatibility is assured with stock Fox and RockShox rear shock models.
