Thinking about adding a connect module to a Vala or Bullit? Here is the official word from the factory:
We did not design or test the Vala or Bullit to accommodate this device, and we cannot officially recommend the efficacy or safety of any method.
However, we love sharing helpful tech insights from the field! For informational purposes only, here is how one shop successfully tackled the installation:
The Unofficial Shop Method
- Secure the Module: Mount the connect module to the flat spot on the inside of the drive-side motor mount shown below.
- Cable Up: Ensure you have a 250mm Bosch cable to connect the module to the motor. Tie it Down: Secure the setup neatly using an adhesive zip tie.
- Important Note: Note that since the bike was not designed with the intention of using the Connect Module, if you add one good cell reception cannot be guaranteed, which the Connect Module needs in order to function. Carbon fiber will typically block the signal of the Connect Module.
